Product information

Our polycarbonate windows are hand crafted to order by our experienced UK based team. They are designed to be safe, strong and lightweight, making them ideal for motorsport. They are much stronger than glass and shatterproof, unlike Perspex and other acrylics, so you are well protected whilst driving.

Our standard windows are manufactured from 4mm thick polycarbonate to comply with Motorsport UK regulations, whilst we also 5mm FIA compliant and hard-coated options for those looking tougher windows.

All of our windows are available in a choice of clear, bronze or grey polycarbonate so can choose the windows that best suit your car. You also have the option to add window sliders to either one or both of the front door windows depending on your preference.

How long does an order take to ship?

We will confirm receipt of your order straight away and will be in touch if we have any questions regarding your order. Standard polycarbonate orders are usually manufactured and despatched within 1-2 weeks of the order being placed. Specialist orders - for example if you choose hard-coating plastic - will take longer, but we will contact you and discuss this with you. If you need your order by a certain date then please let us know.

Can I fit the window myself?

Yes, it is straight forward to remove an existing window and install a RacePlastics polycarbonate window. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to help you do this.

Can I collect the order myself?

Yes, we usually courier orders out to our customers, but if you contact us, we can arrange for collection from our Leeds factory.

How can I change my order?

If you need to discuss or change your order in any way, please get in touch with the team at the earliest chance. We will always try to accommodate any changes but costs may be incurred if the manufacturing process has already started.

The Vauxhall Chevette Hatchback rally car

The Vauxhall Chevette, which debuted in the mid-1970s, swiftly carved out a niche for itself in the UK's rally scene. Launched as Vauxhall's answer to a growing demand for compact and economical cars, the Chevette was more than just a city vehicle; it became a beloved figure in motorsport, particularly in rally racing.

Compact, lightweight, and rear-wheel drive—attributes that are highly prized in rally cars—the Chevette was a natural choice for rally enthusiasts. Its simple yet robust mechanical layout made it easy to modify and maintain, qualities essential for the rigorous demands of rally racing. The HS and HSR models, in particular, were specially adapted for competition, featuring powerful engines, enhanced suspensions, and rally-specific modifications that made them competitive against more established rally cars.

Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Chevette made significant inroads in both national and international rally competitions. It proved its mettle by performing admirably in various challenging conditions, from the muddy tracks of the British Isles to the rugged terrains of international circuits. The Chevette’s successes in these competitions helped cement its reputation as a capable and reliable rally car.

The car also fostered a strong community of enthusiasts and amateur racers, drawn by its affordability and performance. Many amateur rally drivers cut their teeth in a Chevette, gaining valuable experience before moving on to more powerful machines. Today, the Vauxhall Chevette holds a place of honour in British motorsport history, celebrated at vintage rallies and remembered fondly in motorsport circles.

Rallying communities continue to restore, maintain, and race these iconic cars, ensuring that the legacy of the Vauxhall Chevette endures. It remains a testament to the era when simplicity and adaptability could turn an everyday car into a rally icon.
