One of Peugeot's most iconic rally cars is the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, introduced in the mid-1980s. This groundbreaking machine, based on the Peugeot 205 hatchback, featured a mid-engine layout and four-wheel drive, providing exceptional traction and agility on a variety of surfaces. The 205 Turbo 16, affectionately known as the "T16," quickly became a dominant force in rallying, securing multiple victories in the World Rally Championship (WRC) and winning the manufacturers' and drivers' titles in 1985 and 1986.

Following the success of the 205 T16, Peugeot continued its rally dominance with the Peugeot 206 WRC and the Peugeot 307 WRC in the early 2000s. These cars, equipped with powerful turbocharged engines and advanced suspension systems, further solidified Peugeot's reputation as a powerhouse in the rally world. The Peugeot 206 WRC, in particular, achieved significant success, winning the manufacturers' and drivers' titles in 2000, 2001, and 2002.
